All you have to do is unenroll from the Apple Beta Software Program, and you will begin to receive updates from the macOS Stable channel again. This tutorial will show you how to do that.
Why Should You Leave the macOS Ventura Beta?
Although installing macOS Ventura beta lets you get a taste of newer system software updates well before the rest of the crowd, it’s also prone to performance and stability issues. If you don’t want to risk running into a system-breaking bug or a recurrent glitch, your best bet is to fall back to the stable channel.
Another reason to revert to the stable channel is that beta versions of macOS get frequent updates from Apple, which could get annoying once the final release is available.
So, just leave the Apple Beta Software program, and you should be able to revert to the stable build once Apple releases an update that’s newer than the current beta version on your Mac.
Also, if there are any pending beta updates for your Mac, it’s a good idea to avoid installing them while unenrolling your Mac so that the stable build can catch up and outdate your beta software.
How to Leave the macOS Ventura Public Beta
Did you make up your mind to leave the macOS Ventura Public Beta? If so, just follow these instructions:
Open the Apple menu from the menu bar and select System Settings. Select General > Software Update. Select Learn More under the Automatic Updates section. Select Restore Defaults.
Now, simply restart your Mac, and you’re set. You’ll no longer receive beta updates from Apple.
When Will You Receive Updates From the Stable Channel?
To reiterate, you will not receive a newer macOS Ventura update until the stable channel overtakes your Mac’s current beta software version.
Select the More Info icon next to Automatic updates on the Software Update screen, and make sure that the Check for updates switch is active so that you’ll receive a notification when that happens.
Or, activate the switches next to Download new updates when available and Install macOS updates if you want your Mac to install and apply system software updates on its own.
Back to Receiving Stable macOS Ventura Updates
As you just saw, it’s easy to leave the macOS Ventura beta and switch to the public build. You can always enroll in the Apple Beta Software program if you change your mind.
If you’re also using a beta version of iOS 16 on your iPhone, you can return to the stable channel just as quickly.
